Baby name swipe is a mobile-first discovery tool built into BabyNa.me. Instead of scrolling through endless alphabetical lists, you see one name at a time on a card with its origin and meaning. Swipe right — or tap the heart — to save it to your favorites. Swipe left — or tap the X — to move on. Use arrow keys on desktop if you prefer a keyboard. An undo button catches accidental swipes.
Every name you favorite is saved locally in your browser and shows up on the favorites page, where you can compare them side by side, preview what they look like in different typefaces, and share a list with your partner.
The swipe pool draws from official national birth registries across 21 countries. We pull the top 50 boys and top 50 girls per country, then combine them with hand-curated meaning and origin information. You are not scrolling through scraped filler — these are names that real families actually register each year.
When you sit down with an alphabetical name list, decision fatigue kicks in by the time you hit the C's. Your eye glazes over, you end up skipping whole sections, and you miss names you would have loved. Swipe forces one decision at a time. Each card asks a single question: yes or no? That's it. You make hundreds of these micro-decisions in a few minutes, and what surfaces at the end is a genuine signal of what you actually like — not what you happened to notice.
